ABOUT STREET MENTORS NETWORK

Street Mentors Network is a registered Non-profit Organization based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, dedicated to supporting street children, vulnerable/underprivileged children and youths to become the best of themselves even in the worst circumstances. Established in September 2021, our organization is founded on the belief that every young person deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow, learn, and thrive.

Mission

To provide opportunities for vulnerable and underprivileged children in Nigeria to grow, learn and thrive through advocacy, education, direct mentorship, alternative care, vocational/life-skill training, and holistic support.

Vision

To become the world’s lead NGO for the rescue and transformation of the lives of vulnerable underprivileged children, and children in street situations.

Meet the Founders

Anita Michael

Anita Michael

Founder and Executive Director

Anita Michael is an Award-Winning Spoken Word Artiste and Social Impact Leader advancing SDGs 1, 2, 4 and 5 through Creative Arts, Advocacy, Policy and Data-driven Programs. She is the founder and Executive Director of Street Mentors Network, a Non-governmental Organization in Southern Nigeria, providing holistic care and support for street children and vulnerable underprivileged children to heal, learn, grow and thrive through shelter, education, advocacy, direct mentorship and other forms of interventions.

Under her visionary leadership, Street Mentors Network has implemented several groundbreaking projects that have transformed the lives of hundreds of vulnerable street children. These projects include; Street Kids Transformation (SKIT) Project, The Empower Girls Now (EGN) Project, Prevent Abuse Against Children Today (PACT) Campaign, Legacy Circle, and the Foster Care Network (FCN). Through her work with Street Mentors Network, Anita Michael has demonstrated exceptional leadership, compassion, and dedication to creating a safer, more nurturing environment for vulnerable children.

Co-founder / Programs Manager

Prince Nyong is the Co-founder and Programs Manager of Street Mentors Network, where he leads program design, stakeholder engagement, and project implementation. With over three years of experience in youth development and child protection, he has successfully managed initiatives like the Street Kids Transformation (SKIT) Project and the Empower Girls Now Project.

Prince is skilled in project planning, monitoring and evaluation, training, and advocacy. Passionate about education, leadership, and community impact, he works to create sustainable solutions for vulnerable children. His dedication and expertise make him a strong asset in driving SMN’s mission forward.
